WHAT and WHY airbrush? Not sure what is airbrush makeup? Don't worry; you aren't alone. Before you can decide if you want airbrush makeup for your wedding, it helps to know what it actually is. In a nutshell, airbrushing uses the power of compressed air to mist foundation gently across your skin using special foundation cartridges that fit into a corresponding airbrushing device. So the question is why not airbrush? It looks great, it feels great, and it does not move. Airbrushing was something I wanted to try and after starting I loved the dewy, natural glowing look it created. Different artists choose different methods and this is the one that I enjoy working with! Also, no complaints from brides ;)

  1. Airbrush makeup lasts all day - LIKE REALLY, REALLY, LASTS…

Temptu (the brand I use and will give my left arm for) airbrush makeup is silicone-based, which means it lasts longer and is more water resistant - dare I say waterproof - than regular makeup. Therefore, it'll withstand all the hugging and kissing and crying that will inevitably happen throughout your wedding day.

2. Airbrush makeup is known for its flawless finish

This one is a given: just look at the name. Airbrushing allows for makeup to be applied evenly, allowing for an impeccably smooth finish. The best part is it's perfect for the hundreds of pictures that you'll be taking all day.

3. With airbrush makeup, a little goes a long way.

If you don't want to feel like you're wearing a heavy coat of foundation, airbrush might be right for you. Because of the application technique (and years of skill-refining practice) I can get you full coverage with little product, so no way you’ll feel caked on.

4. It's easy to layer.

This is a major pro and ties back to the previous note; strategic layers and colours give a multi-dimensional look, minus aaall the product. The application method is totally customizable—whether you prefer light coverage or love a full face. Since airbrush makeup can be applied in such fine layers, it dries super quickly, which means you can add more layers for extra coverage if you want.

In short, this is for you if you:

  • Don't want to have to keep slipping away during your wedding to touch up your makeup

  • Want the smooth finish airbrushed makeup offers

  • Want lightweight makeup that won't distract you during your big day

Can I book a trial before I book? Unfortunately no. This approach allows me to prioritize brides who have conducted thorough research, are familiar with my brand, and are wholeheartedly committed and enthusiastic about collaborating. It helps avoid potential disappointment for brides seeking a trial, as dates may become unavailable before they secure them. I cannot guarantee availability for trial-only bookings. I understand and respect it if you choose another artist based on this policy. However, I am more than willing to address any inquiries you may have or engage in a discussion before confirming a booking.

What products do you use? Do you use MAC? Among other products, yes. All products used are professional quality and a variety of factors are considered that will suit YOUR skin, YOUR complexion and YOUR concerns. If you want a "natural" look then I will not cake your face in a thick, stage like foundation. To answer more specifically I love Bobbie Brown, Temptu and MUD airbrush products, Inglot, Chanel, Dior, Sephora and the list goes on...actually the list is here on my ABOUT page.

I want to look natural like Kim Kardashian. So not a lot of make up please...and it should therefore be cheaper. Guurrl, you must be joking. That flawless skin, perfect highlighter, matte nude lip and pale beige eyes are by far not natural and takes an incredible amount of skill and product knowledge to get Mrs K looking that way, not to even mention filters. Lots, and lots of filters.

I'm getting married in location X; do you travel for weddings? Absolutely! I come to your venue, whether it's around the corner, in Knysna or in Namibia. Even better if you want me to come to Europe or Zanzibar, count me in!

Do you do same-sex weddings? Honestly, I’m sorry if you should feel the need to ask that. Ladies (and gents) I will help you no matter your gender, sexual orientation, race, or religion. Everyone deserves their happy beginning with their person. So, YES… I will help you with the greatest pleasure.

Do you only do weddings? Nope, but weddings are my big thing. I do makeup and hair for personal shoots as well as editorial work and permanent makeup/microblading.

I have a big bridal party, do you do everything yourself? No, heavens - I get an assistant if it’s more than the bride + 5 people. BUT… I do take into account what time your ceremony starts/you have to be ready to start photos and what time you’re willing to start. So sometimes weddings that I can easily do myself, might require an assistant which might not be quoted initially. But I’ll always make you aware of that too.

Hmm, that's about it for frequently asked questions but maybe read the next advice section:

  • If you go from black hair to blond hair your hair will be damaged. Like, seriously damaged. Therefore, any heat application techniques like flat ironing or curling could cause even more damage to your hair. We need to talk about treatments and consequences before we carry on. Seriously, over bleached hair can turn sunshine yellow under heated tongs.

  • I know you want to look your best but my dear, good skin starts from the inside out. The preparations like a good skin care routine, proper moisturiser and enough water is so important. I know you know you've heard this message countless times from anyone that's given you a facial or even just sold you a skin care product. 'Tis because it's true. If you're not sure where to start, ask and I'll advise.

  • Your wedding is not the time to start experimenting with different hairstyles...if you don't like the new style then we cannot Johnson & Johnson it with "No more tears"...that style will have to grow out or go through so many treatments to get it half decent again. For example: Do not perm your hair a few months/weeks before the wedding because you want curly hair on your wedding day. That is why we are professionals and we make that freakin' curl stick until the following morning.
